About Diamonds & Gemstones
We describe stones as they present in the piece — approximate carat weight, colour, and clarity where we can assess them — and we say when a measurement is an estimate rather than a laboratory grade. When a piece comes with a GIA or other laboratory report, the report is included with the piece and the listing says so.

Frequently asked questions
Some do. Estate pieces come to us the way their previous owner kept them, so a laboratory report is present on some and not on others. When a report exists it is included with the piece and referenced in the listing. When there is none, we say so plainly and describe the stone from our own inspection rather than implying a grade we have not had verified.
Weights on mounted stones are approximate unless a laboratory report states otherwise, because a set stone cannot be weighed directly — it is measured and calculated. Our listings distinguish between a stated weight from a report and an estimate from measurement.
