Description

The 1884-O Morgan Silver Dollar, graded MS63 by PCGS (certification #7154. 63/28064238), is a Choice Uncirculated example of one of the most beloved series in American numismatics. Struck at the New Orleans Mint in 1884, this coin carries the distinctive O mint mark on the reverse below the eagle. The Morgan Dollar was designed by George T. Morgan and features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap and a crown inscribed LIBERTY on the obverse, surrounded by thirteen stars and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. The reverse presents a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings, clutching an olive branch and arrows, framed by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR, along with IN GOD WE TRUST. Both sides of this coin display the warm natural toning that develops on original silver over time, adding character and eye appeal prized by collectors. The coin is sealed in a PCGS hard plastic holder with the series designation, date, mint mark, denomination, and grade clearly labeled on the insert, making it display-ready straight from the slab.

Frequently asked questions

MS63, or Choice Uncirculated, indicates the coin has never circulated and retains full mint luster with only a few scattered contact marks or light blemishes. At this grade, the Morgan Dollar presents strong visual appeal and crisp design detail across both obverse and reverse.
This coin was struck at the New Orleans Mint in Louisiana, as denoted by the O mint mark visible on the reverse below the eagle. The New Orleans Mint was a major producer of Morgan Dollars throughout the series and is a historically significant facility for 19th-century American coinage.
Yes, the Morgan Dollar was produced from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921, making it one of the longest-running and most widely collected U.S. silver dollar series. The 1884-O is a mid-series date struck during peak production years at the New Orleans Mint.
The coin is sealed in its PCGS hard plastic slab, which protects it from handling and environmental damage. CoinDuffle ships slabbed coins with additional protective packaging to ensure the holder and coin arrive safely to the buyer.
