Description

The 1900-O Morgan Silver Dollar graded PCGS MS63 is a prime example of one of America's most beloved classic silver coinage series. Struck at the New Orleans Mint in 1900 — the penultimate year of the facility's Morgan dollar production — this coin carries the distinctive O mint mark visible on the reverse below the eagle. Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse presents a left-facing portrait of Liberty crowned with a cotton blossom, wheat stalks, and a Phrygian cap inscribed LIBERTY, surrounded by thirteen stars and the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. The reverse showcases a heraldic eagle with wings spread, clutching arrows and an olive branch, set within a wreath above the denomination ONE DOLLAR and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. At the MS63 grade, this example retains full Mint State luster with only modest contact marks expected for the grade. The coin is encapsulated in an official PCGS holder with certification number 20673019, providing a permanent, tamper-evident display for a type coin that anchors any serious Morgan dollar collection.

Frequently asked questions

This coin was struck at the New Orleans Mint, indicated by the O mint mark visible on the reverse below the eagle above ONE DOLLAR. The New Orleans Mint produced Morgan dollars from 1879 through 1904, making the 1900-O a historically significant late-series issue from that facility.
MS63 (Mint State 63) is a PCGS numerical grade indicating the coin is fully uncirculated — never spent in commerce — with luster that is slightly impaired and a moderate number of contact marks or minor blemishes. It represents an accessible and collectible Mint State example of this classic type.
The Morgan dollar was designed by George T. Morgan, an English-born engraver who joined the U.S. Mint in 1876. The obverse portrait of Liberty was modeled after Anna Willess Williams, a Philadelphia schoolteacher. Morgan's initial M appears on the obverse truncation of Liberty's neck.
Yes. The Morgan dollar series ran from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921, making the 1900-O one of the final issues before the series ended. Collectors frequently pursue date-and-mint-mark sets across all issuing facilities: Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Francisco, Carson City, and Denver.
