1927 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle $20 Gold NGC MS64
From $5,268.58
The 1927 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle $20 Gold NGC MS64 is one of the most celebrated coins in all of American numismatics, graded MS64 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation and sealed in a tamper-evident NGC holder (cert. 3218003-020). Commissioned by President Theodore Roosevelt and designed by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the Double Eagle series (1907–1933) represented a bold artistic renaissance for U. S. coinage. The obverse portrays a full-length Lady Liberty striding forward, torch raised high and olive branch extended, set against radiating sunbeams and a border of stars. The reverse features a magnificent bald eagle in mid-flight, wings spread wide, with "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "TWENTY DOLLARS," and "IN GOD WE TRUST" arcing around the design. Containing 0. 9675 troy oz of gold, the 1927 Philadelphia issue saw a generous mintage relative to later dates in the series, yet examples grading MS64 display well-preserved luster and crisp, sharp detail that make them standout acquisitions for advanced type collectors and Date Set enthusiasts alike. This coin ships securely in its NGC holder, ready for a collection or display.
