Description

The 2014 American Silver Eagle $1 is a flagship bullion coin of the United States Mint, graded MS 69 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Struck in one troy ounce of 0. 999 fine silver, the American Silver Eagle is the most widely collected silver bullion coin issued by the U. S. government and carries a legal-tender face value of one dollar. The obverse presents Adolph Weinman's iconic Walking Liberty design — originally created for the 1916 Walking Liberty half dollar — depicting Lady Liberty striding confidently toward the sunrise, draped in the American flag. The reverse features John Mercanti's heraldic bald eagle with wings spread, clutching arrows and an olive branch beneath a constellation of thirteen stars and the motto E Pluribus Unum. NGC has certified this example at MS 69, denoting a coin with nearly perfect mint luster and only the slightest of contact marks under magnification. It is encapsulated in NGC's distinctive patriotic American flag-themed collector holder, making it a visually compelling centerpiece for any silver eagle or modern U. S. coin collection.

Frequently asked questions

NGC graded this coin MS 69, indicating a near-perfect mint-state example with full, original luster and only the most minimal contact marks visible under magnification. The coin is encapsulated and sealed in NGC's tamper-evident holder bearing certification number 4818595-116.
Each 2014 American Silver Eagle contains exactly one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver. This fineness and weight are struck into the reverse legend of the coin itself, reading '1 OZ. FINE SILVER — ONE DOLLAR,' and are guaranteed by the United States government.
The obverse Walking Liberty design was created by sculptor Adolph A. Weinman and first appeared on U.S. coinage in 1916. The reverse heraldic eagle was designed by John Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint, and has appeared on every American Silver Eagle since the series began in 1986.
NGC encapsulated this coin in its patriotic American flag-themed collector slab, featuring a red, white, and blue Stars and Stripes insert. This special presentation holder is popular with collectors and adds a distinctly patriotic display appeal alongside the standard NGC label and holographic security sticker on the reverse.
