1923 Peace Silver Dollar NGC MS 61 — Certified Uncirculated
From $70.00
The 1923 Peace Dollar graded NGC MS 61 is a certified Mint State example of America's beloved silver dollar series, issued to commemorate the peace following World War I. Struck in 0. 900 fine silver, the Peace Dollar was designed by sculptor Anthony de Francisci and first issued in 1921. The obverse carries a forward-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a radiate crown — inspired by the idealism of the era — alongside the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse presents a majestic bald eagle at rest on a mountain crag, clutching an olive branch beneath radiating sunbeams, with the word PEACE prominently inscribed below. The 1923 Philadelphia issue holds a special place in Peace Dollar collecting as the series' single highest-mintage year, making it the definitive "type coin" representative of the design. This example has been independently evaluated and encapsulated by NGC at MS 61 — a full Mint State grade confirming no wear on the high points — and is secured in NGC's sonically sealed, tamper-evident hard plastic holder with certification number 3299088-003. The coin arrives ready for a type set, a Peace Dollar date run, or a silver dollar collection.
